The Dearborn Lions is a parent-run franchise of the Dearborn Youth Football Association (DYFA) which relies upon parents of participants to fulfill the needs of the organization.  Members of the Dearborn Lions Board of Directors, elected by the general membership for three-year terms, manage the organization, establish policies and procedures, and conduct most of the day-to-day business of the Dearborn Lions.  However, the organization can not operate successfully without the active participation of parents.  Consequently, the DYFA Board of Directors has mandated that parents provide their services to the organization for two games each season for every child they have in the program. The DYFA Board of Directors understands that in today’s society, everyone’s time is valuable and in demand.  However, since we, as parents, expect our children to dedicate their time and effort to the program, it’s only fair that we, as parents, make a similar commitment.  Parents have the initial choice concerning when to provide their Parent Service Time and in what particular capacity.  The first opportunity to sign up for Parent Service Time was at the Mandatory Parents’ Meetings July 26 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.  Sign up opportunities will also be available at equipment hand-out, August 14, and during pre-season at the team trailer at Ford Field.  If you have not signed up for your Parent Service Time by Thursday, September 1, our Parent Service Time Coordinator will assign you Parent Service Time at two games.  Failure to fulfill your Parent Service Time obligation will result in the immediate forfeiture of your $100 deposit. If you, as a parent, ask your son or daughter to complete your Parent Service Time requirement, he/she must be at least 16 years old.            We also encourage parents to become involved in the DYFA program beyond their mandatory two games of Parent Service Time.  Opportunities abound, throughout the year, and we welcome parents’ involvement.
